This white MkI 1500cc Ford Cortina Super has been owned by the same family all its life, having been bought by the vendor’s grandfather in Essex when new in 1964. He reportedly maintained the car himself and kept it dry stored, and it remained in use up until 1993. The Cortina has been garaged since then, so it is now being sold as a project in need of recommissioning.
The odometer is displaying 55,168 miles, and the car was first registered on 15th April 1964. The car’s history file contains three handbooks, old V5s and MoT certificates, a photo of the car in 1993, plus assorted paperwork and correspondences from the 1980s.
A new water pump has been fitted, and the car comes with a spare bonnet and boot lid. The vendor notes that the engine does turn over, but there is no spark at the plugs, and the head has not been converted for use with unleaded petrol.
